Welcome to Eight Piece Box!
This is a new project from Jonathan Piercy, a food nerd who until recently was the host of What’s Cookin’ Now! on 88.7 WMMT-FM. It’s all about cooking, eating, and drinking, with a focus on Kentucky and Appalachia but always looking outward. The name came from this classic from Southern Culture on the Skids.
So what do we have planned? Here are a few things you can expect to see here:
–Coverage of food events around the region. Just in the next month we’ll be covering the Appalachian Food Summit in Abingdon and the Bourbon Social in Lexington.
–A weekly post (Friday mornings, for now) called This Week in the Box, all about what and where we’ve been cooking, eating, and drinking this week.
–A new podcast and radio show! Also called Eight Piece Box, it’s going to be a monthly panel and interview show about food. It will be posted here and will also air on 88.7 WMMT-FM. Look for that in November!
–And, of course, other posts about food and cooking, and even occasionally about things that aren’t food and cooking, because it’s my blog, dammit. And posts from friends and contributing writers.
